Why consensus does not guarantee truth

Modern discourse often assumes that majority consensus invariably produces the correct path forward. Plato famously highlighted this peril that it would be catastrophic if a storm-tossed ship were steered by a majority vote among passengers rather than by an experienced navigator.

In enterprise leadership, this dynamic plays out daily. Organizational strategy and crisis management cannot be reduced to superficial voting detached from personal accountability. Crowds instinctively gravitate toward the path of least resistance, comfort and short-term tranquility. Critical strategic pivots, conversely, demand seasoned expertise, deep domain insight and the courage to own the fallout.

Authentic leadership does not yield to popular sentiment but executes choices grounded in competence and institutional longevity.
